Traders across major markets of Kano have shut their shops and rushed home after the Kano governorship election tribunal sacked Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Earlier,  the tribunal declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasiru Gawuna as the duly elected governor of the state.

The three-man panel led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay held that 165,663 votes of the governor were invalid.

Hours after the judgement, traders rushed to suspend their daily activities and dashed to their various homes, obviously to be safe from unforeseen circumstances.

Some of the places where traders suspended activities were Sabon Gari, Kantin Kwari and Singer markets.

It was gathered that the biggest shopping mall in the metropolis, Ado Bayero Mall (ShopRite), was also shut.

Yusuf, who contested on the platform of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

While Nasir Gawuna, his APC rival congratulated him, the party proceeded to court.
