Soludo secured 740 votes to defeat other challengers. The total number of accredited delegates who participated was 795 while 792 votes were cast.

Willie Obiano, Anambra state governor, and other stakeholders of the party were present at the event that took place on Wednesday in Awka, Anambra state capital.
Meanwhile, earlier, Soludo was suspended from the party by the National Executive Committee under the Jude Okeke-led faction, for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities.

His suspension by one faction and victory in a primary overseen by another faction further intensified the crisis within the party.
