The House of Representatives candidate of the Labour Party, Aguocha, has defeated the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Abia State.

 

The duo contested for who would represent Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.

According to Prof. Uma Kalu Oke,  the Returning Officer, the LP candidate, Aguocha polled a total of 48,199 to defeat Orji, the son of a former governor of Abia State and the incumbent senator representing Abia Central at the National Assembly, Theodore Orji, who scored 35,196 votes.

Obinna Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored 2,386, while Friday Chimaobi of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) polled 1,013 votes.

Others, including Patience Okorie of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) got 644 votes, Christian Ibekwe Christian of NRM got 68 votes whereas Nnamdi Ogbuagu of APP scored 347 votes.
