United Nigeria Airlines has blamed inclement weather for diverting passenger from Abuja to Asaba.

It was previously reported that passengers on a Nigerian airline were left in panic on Sunday after’mistakenly’ arriving at Asaba airport rather than Abuja, where travelers had booked.

An enraged passenger who spread the news stated the plane’s captain was given the incorrect flight plan from Lagos.

Nigerians were angry about this because it happened just a few days after a string of plane crash landing at different airports.

In response, the airline said in a statement called “TEMPORARY DIVERSION OF FLIGHT TO ASABA” that the problem was caused by bad weather and that the customers have now arrived at their target in Abuja.

“A united Nigeria Airlines flight, NUA 0504, operating from the MM2 in Lagos enroute Abuja on Sunday, November 26, 2023, was temporarily diverted to the Asaba International Airport due to poor destination weather,” said the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbe.

“The Pilot of the aircraft was aware of the temporary diversion and was properly briefed at all material times.”
However, after successfully landing in Asaba, flight personnel gave an incorrect statement, causing consternation among the passengers.

“Meanwhile, the aircraft landed safely in Abuja after the destination weather improved.”

“United Nigeria Airlines remains committed to ensuring the safety of its passengers at all times.”
