Tragedy struck the Te’ebbe community in Miango District of Bassa L.G.A when about three members of a farming family were killed in a fresh wave of violence that has continued to plague Plateau State.

The victims, who are local farmers, were ambushed and killed while in their farms harvesting tomatoes. 

incidentally, two other family members who survived the attack with sustained injuries and were immediately taken to Jos for emergency medical treatment.

This incident is coming just as a state-appointed fact-finding committee was meeting with Bassa community members and security agencies at the L.A secretariat in an effort to address the lingering crisis in Plateau State

The committee chairman, General Rogers, expressed deep frustration over the incident, “Today is one of the saddest days of my life. At the moment, we are in this village.

 “We were discussing with the Local Government chairman at the secretariat about ways to ensure peace in Bassa when we were informed of the attack”.

The fact-finding mission was instituted by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to investigate the root causes of the recurrent violence in the state and proffer long-term solutions for peace and reconciliation.

“We quickly mobilised with the chairman, my team, and other security agencies. We found three bodies on the ground—three innocent women. One of the victims, a man, was critically injured, nearly dead. He explained that the other victim were rushed to Jos for treatment.

“The victims were in their fields harvesting tomatoes when they were attacked. These are innocent young girls who have been killed. stated the chairman

“For us, this is a terrible situation. We appeal to the Irigwe youth not to take the law into their own hands and to allow security agencies to handle the situation. The deceased have been taken away for burial,” he added.
