A new Nigerian e-hailing platform, ProTaxi Abuja, is set to begin operations in the Federal Capital Territory on October 1, introducing electric vehicles as an alternative to conventional fuel-powered transportation while creating new opportunities for drivers and offering commuters another option for moving around the city.

The October 1 launch will also coincide with Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, giving the locally developed platform a significant date for its entry into the country’s growing e-hailing sector.

ProTaxi Abuja Targets 1,000 Drivers
One of the major parts of the ProTaxi initiative is its plan to create opportunities for 1,000 drivers through the use of electric vehicles. PromiseLand Innovations has said it intends to empower 1,000 drivers or families with brand-new electric vehicles as part of the programme, although prospective drivers will still have to complete registration, screening, verification and onboarding before they can participate.
The company says the programme is designed to combine transportation with economic opportunities, particularly for Nigerians who have driving experience and are interested in working within the country’s developing electric mobility sector.
For drivers who rely heavily on petrol-powered vehicles, the company believes the use of rechargeable electric vehicles could help reduce some of the operating pressures associated with conventional transportation. ProTaxi says drivers will also have flexibility in managing their working schedules, allowing them to decide whether they want to operate for selected hours or work more regularly through the platform. The ProTaxi rider application is already available for Android and iPhone users ahead of the planned October 1 rollout, according to reports.
