A Magistrate Court in Abuja has issued bench warrants for the arrest of former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, former senator Ifeanyi Araraume and two other individuals over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and the presentation of false documents connected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Imo State. The Okorocha Araraume arrest warrants come amid a separate request by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for security agencies to investigate a disputed document that allegedly presented Okorocha as the winner of the party’s primary for Imo West Senatorial District.

The warrants, reportedly dated September 9, 2026, also name Timothy Ama Chuks and Amen Okorocha, who are accused of involvement in the alleged offences. According to reports citing court documents, police officers across Nigeria have been authorised to arrest the four individuals and produce them before Senior Magistrate Court 3 in Jiwa, Abuja.

The cases are registered under suit numbers CR/M/JW/084/2026 and CR/M/JW/085/2026, with the Inspector-General of Police listed as the complainant. However, the allegations remain subject to legal determination, and the warrants do not establish the guilt of any of the individuals named.

Okorocha Araraume Arrest Warrants Linked to Disputed APC Primary

The case centres on the APC senatorial primary for Imo West Senatorial District, commonly known as Orlu Zone, which took place on May 18, 2026. The dispute concerns a document that reportedly identified Okorocha as the winner of the exercise, despite a different result being submitted to the electoral commission.

The disagreement has raised questions about the authenticity of the disputed report and the process through which the party selected its candidate for the senatorial district. The Okorocha Araraume arrest warrants have now brought the matter before the courts, while the electoral commission has called for a separate investigation into the document’s circulation.

The case involves allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and the use of false documents. Authorities will need to examine the available evidence and establish whether the alleged offences occurred before any criminal responsibility can be determined.

INEC Rejects Document Claiming Okorocha Won

In a letter dated October 8, 2026, INEC asked the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the disputed primary result. The commission reportedly described the document circulating in Okorocha’s name as fictitious and said it contradicted the result submitted to its headquarters by the APC.

According to INEC, the official result identified Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the winner of the APC primary for Imo West. The party subsequently forwarded Uzodimma’s name to the commission as its candidate for the senatorial district.

The electoral body urged security agencies to investigate the origin and circulation of the conflicting document. Its request places the disputed report at the centre of the investigation, although the allegations against the individuals named in the court warrants still require proper legal examination.

What Happens After the Arrest Warrants?

The warrants authorise law enforcement officers to apprehend the four individuals and bring them before the designated magistrate court in Abuja. Further proceedings may help clarify the allegations and determine the next steps in the cases.

The development also highlights the importance of authentic party records in Nigeria’s electoral process, particularly when disputes arise over candidate selection and official results. Documents submitted to electoral authorities can carry significant consequences for political parties and individuals seeking elective office.

For now, the Okorocha Araraume arrest warrants represent a legal development in an ongoing dispute, rather than a final judgment on the allegations. Any determination of guilt must follow the applicable judicial process, with the evidence assessed by the appropriate authorities and the rights of all accused individuals respected.
