Tinubu 2027 campaign rallies may not feature the president every time as he prioritises governance, debt obligations and long-term investment.
Tinubu made the announcement on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja. He urged party members to take responsibility for nationwide mobilisation while he continued to address the country’s economic and administrative challenges.
The president said Nigeria needed his attention and agreed that campaign activities should not distract him from governing the country. He also pointed to financial obligations and the need to attract investors willing to commit resources to Nigeria over the long term.
His comments come as the ruling party begins organising its political strategy for the 2027 presidential election, with party leaders expected to engage voters across states, local government areas and wards.
Tinubu 2027 Campaign Rallies Face New Arrangements
Speaking to members of the campaign council, Tinubu made it clear that his presence at every political gathering should not be taken for granted, as the demands of running the country could limit his participation in campaign tours.
“Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause,” he said, according to reports of the event.
The president also referred to Nigeria’s financial commitments while explaining why he could not accompany campaign officials to every location.
He further stressed the importance of attracting investors who would establish lasting businesses and support Nigeria’s future economic development. He said the country needed investors prepared to remain in Nigeria and invest for the benefit of future generations.
However, Tinubu did not announce a detailed schedule of the rallies he might miss. His remarks indicate that he intends to balance campaign activities with his duties as head of state rather than withdraw from the election campaign entirely.
He also assured the audience that he would still make time to address Nigerians directly while the campaign council coordinated activities across the country.
The arrangement could place greater responsibility on APC leaders, who will need to communicate the administration’s policies and engage voters in areas the president may not visit during the campaign.
APC Leaders Asked to Secure Support Ahead of 2027
Beyond his comments about campaign attendance, Tinubu urged the council to promote the administration’s record, explain its agenda and work towards securing votes in the next general election.
He described the inauguration as a renewed commitment between the governing party and Nigerians, emphasising that the council must translate its responsibilities into electoral results.
The president also commended party members for completing the APC congresses, noting that the party had overcome concerns about possible internal divisions during the process.
He challenged campaign officials to deliver results at the grassroots level, stressing that their work would not be complete until the party secured votes in the election.
Vice President Kashim Shettima also addressed the gathering, questioning whether opposition politicians could manage Nigeria’s competing interests when some had struggled to maintain unity within their own parties.
He urged campaign officials to engage communities, listen to public concerns and explain the administration’s policies. His remarks placed grassroots mobilisation at the centre of the APC’s preparations.
Meanwhile, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda called on the campaign council to present the government’s achievements while acknowledging areas where challenges remain. He said the party needed to explain its progress, unfinished projects and plans for the future.
The president’s possible absence from some rallies will therefore make the campaign council’s role particularly important as the party prepares to defend its record and seek another mandate.
Although Tinubu has not ruled out attending campaign events, his comments suggest that the APC must prepare for a campaign in which party officials may handle more engagements without him.
As preparations continue, the party will need to balance its electoral ambitions with public expectations about governance, economic performance and accountability. The impact of Tinubu’s decision on the APC’s campaign remains uncertain, but his message to party leaders is clear: they must organise effectively and work towards winning voters’ support in 2027.
