Even in the developing democracy like ours, power-drunk politicians use track record of selfless services to campaign for elective positions and not deployment of ill-gotten wealth to achieve selfish political ambition. Since the inception of the present democratic dispensation in 1999, Kebbi State has been experiencing hitch-free electioneering political campaigns and peaceful transition from the outgoing to incoming administrations after successful two terms tenure of office.
In the present day, Kebbi State appeared to be witnessing a strange politics of hooliganism, thuggery and deployment of massively accumulated questionable resources for selfish political gains.
Following the unfolding build-up towards the 2027 general elections, it is evidently clear that Abubakar Malami, the former Minister of Justice desperation for the governorship seat has revealed an unimaginable elements of insanity in the conduct of his early political campaign.
Malami’s recent actions in Kebbi State’s politics have caused serious cause of concern among the citizens as he with impunity engages hired armed political thugs from the neighbouring states to disrupt peace and stability in Kebbi State, specifically targeting the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its members.
The former minister allegedly deployed massive resources accumulated through questionable means to achieve selfish political ambitions, including funding destructive campaigns of calumny against President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris.
It is no longer news in Nigeria that Malami is one of the major beneficiaries of the All Progressive Congress APC and the late President Muhammadu Buhari but has now not only resigned from the APC and joined the ADC, betrayed his benefactors but also deploying the resources at his disposal to rubbish the legacy of the late President Buhari and sabotage the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris.
The resources are being used through the use of professional consultants for the sponsorship of programmes in radio and television stations including social media ,a destructive campaign of calumny through fabrication of falsehood, baseless and mischievous allegations against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris.
The recent organised unpatriotic and inhuman activities carried out by the Malami organisation was the engagement of hired armed political thugs from the neighbouring states who allegedly unleashed mayhem on innocent people and vandalised valuable properties in the state capital including the All Progressive Congress bill boards and vehicles at the state Secretariat, obviously aimed at causing insecurity and possible bloodshed.
To tactfully cover up the committed crime, he hurriedly petitioned the security agencies and alleged importation of mercenaries by the state government to disrupt his ambiguous dream but was immediately challenged by both the state government and the All Progressive Congress (APC) caucus in the National Assembly to prove the allegations, investigated and prosecuted.
Again, in another attempt to apparently pre-empt the outcome of the investigations being carried out by the security agencies, Abubakar Malami early this week sponsored a publication of fabricated falsehood and mischievous baseless allegations against the state government.
Among the allegations signed by a fake name with no verifiable address was the alleged arrest and prosecution of some individual supporters of the ADC by the security agencies and the state judiciary.
Interestingly, the Abubakar Malami sponsored blackmail writer categorically indicted the Nigerian Police and the Department of the State Security Service for alleged connivance with the state government.
However, Abubakar Malami and his co-travellers in the ADC under his single-handed leadership need to come to terms with the reality that Governor Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu)is destined by God through the divine wisdom of the people of Kebbi State to govern the state under the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Clear indication of the divine intervention is the unambiguous confirmation and endorsement by all the politicians of substance and indeed the majority of the people of the state. Also considered as another God’s guidance and blessings is the wisdom granted him that facilitates his success in changing the narrative of the state socio-economic transformation within two years of his stewardship.
