Governor Tambuwal Resigns As Governor Makinde Assumes PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman

Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State, has resigned as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.

The former presidential hopeful resigned on Thursday during the PDP National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

As a result, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde was appointed as the forum’s new Chairman.

Tambuwal has also been named as the party’s Director General for the Presidential Campaign Council.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, requested on Thursday that Iyorchia Ayu should resign as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Wike claimed that the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, told him in person after winning the May 2022 presidential primary that Ayu would step down as the party’s chairman.

The governor said the resignation of Walid Jibril as the Board of Trustees chairman would not stop his demand for Ayu’s removal. “This fight we will fight it to the end,” he said.
