The DR Congo Ebola outbreak has placed additional pressure on health authorities as they work to contain new infections across affected areas.
As of September 13, 2026, the outbreak had recorded 7,258 confirmed cases and 3,510 deaths, according to WHO data. The disease has also spread across seven provinces, increasing concerns over continued transmission and the pressure on health authorities.
DR Congo Ebola Outbreak Still Far From Over
WHO said there have been encouraging developments in some affected areas, including signs of declining transmission. However, the organisation stressed that the outbreak is “far from over,” particularly as cases continue to emerge in parts of the country.
The situation remains especially concerning in North Kivu, where ongoing transmission has been linked to insecurity and population movement, making surveillance and contact tracing more difficult.
