APC Women Mobilisation Begins Major 2027 Drive

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stepped up its women mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the party preparing to strengthen its grassroots structures and increase engagement with female voters across Nigeria.

The latest APC women mobilisation drive will centre on a major stakeholders’ summit in Abuja on Monday, October 5, 2026. The event is expected to bring together more than 20,000 women from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as the party prepares for the formal start of its 2027 presidential campaign activities.

The summit will be convened by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, while the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council will coordinate the programme. Organisers have designed the gathering to connect women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, grassroots organisers and other political stakeholders as the party expands its campaign structure.

APC women mobilisation targets grassroots support

The APC women mobilisation strategy goes beyond the Abuja summit, as the party’s women directorate says it has continued community-level engagement across the country.

Director of the Women Mobilisation Directorate, Dr Betta Edu, said the group is targeting 40 million women’s votes for President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election. She also said the directorate is strengthening its grassroots network while continuing community meetings and door-to-door mobilisation.

The directorate has described the Abuja meeting as an opportunity to strengthen the women’s mobilisation structure nationwide. It also plans to use the event to empower women and improve coordination between national, state and grassroots organisers.

In addition, the campaign structure has placed strong emphasis on reaching communities directly. Edu said mobilisation activities are continuing alongside the Abuja summit, with women organisers engaging households and communities across the country.

This approach could give the party a wider network as preparations for the 2027 election continue. Rather than relying only on large campaign events, the organisers want women at the community level to remain involved in the party’s political activities.

Women stakeholders to discuss campaign strategy

The Abuja summit is expected to bring together a broad range of women stakeholders who can contribute to the party’s campaign structure. Participants include women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, community representatives and grassroots organisers.

The programme will focus on mobilisation, empowerment and political participation. It will also provide an opportunity for the APC to communicate its message to women who will play an important role in the party’s campaign activities.

The summit carries the theme “Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment”, while the broader campaign programme uses the message “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”

Meanwhile, members of the campaign planning committee have highlighted several Federal Government programmes that they say should form part of the party’s engagement with voters. These include the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, consumer credit initiatives, infrastructure projects, social protection programmes and digital-skills schemes.

The campaign team is expected to use these programmes as part of its conversations with women and communities. However, the mobilisation effort will also depend on how effectively the party coordinates its structures across states and local communities.

The latest development comes as political parties and their support groups begin to intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections. Other political groups have also started organising women-focused structures as they seek to build support ahead of the election.

For the APC, the Abuja summit represents an early step in a wider effort to organise its female supporters and strengthen its grassroots campaign network.

As the 2027 election approaches, the party is expected to expand its engagement with women across the country. The scale of the latest initiative shows that women mobilisation will remain an important part of the APC’s campaign preparations in the months ahead.
